Yavapai County identifies Proposition 497 as a Jail District Excise Tax Increase. The official description states that the proposal would increase the existing Yavapai County Jail District excise (sales) tax by one-quarter cent ($0.0025) per dollar.

Timing

The official county description states that, if approved, the increase would take effect July 1, 2027, and continue for 20 years.

What voters are deciding

The county’s published ballot description states that a YES vote would approve the one-quarter-cent increase and a NO vote would reject it.
