Yavapai College’s men’s and women’s soccer teams were defeated in road games against Arizona Western College on Sept. 29. The men lost 5-1, while the women fell 4-1. Both Roughrider teams are scheduled to travel to Bullhead City to face Mohave College on Saturday, Oct. 3.
### Men’s team
Facundo Bellindier-Parada scored Yavapai’s lone goal in the men’s match. His goal was unassisted. Bellindier-Parada, Nery Martinez and David Marku each recorded three shots on goal, according to the college’s roundup.
Goalkeeper Christian Rimbu made 12 saves. Arizona Western scored five times, with two of those goals coming during the final five minutes of the match. The result leaves the Roughriders with a 6-3-1 overall record and a 1-2-1 record in conference play.
### Women’s team
The women also scored once against Arizona Western. Dottie Bethers scored for Yavapai, with Eliza Palmer credited with the assist. Jessica Welch made 13 saves in the match.
The 4-1 result puts the women’s record at 3-7-2 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play. The teams’ next scheduled games are both against Mohave College in Bullhead City on Oct. 3. The college’s announcement did not provide game times or additional details about the upcoming matches.
### Attending home games
Yavapai College says admission is free for home games in women’s volleyball and men’s and women’s soccer. The college also says the public is welcome. The notice covers home games for those programs; the Sept. 29 soccer matches took place on the road at Arizona Western.
The upcoming Mohave games are scheduled for Bullhead City, rather than at a Yavapai College home venue. For local residents interested in attending a home match later in the season, the college’s announcement identifies free admission as an option for all three teams. It does not list schedules for later home games.
