A grief group centered on quiet time in nature is scheduled to meet Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Highlands Center for Natural History in Prescott.
Peace in the Pines is set for 5 to 7 p.m. at the center, located at 1375 S. Walker Road. The program takes place on the grounds of the Highlands Center, in the Ponderosa pine forest of Prescott National Forest.
According to the program description, the gathering is based on the idea that nature can support healing. Time spent in wild, quiet places, the description says, can create space for people to reconnect with their breath, their grief and the natural world.
The setting is described as an active part of the experience rather than simply a backdrop. Participants may hear wind moving through the tall pines, feel their footsteps on the ground and notice birds, Abert’s squirrels and other wildlife in the area.
Peace in the Pines is a grief group that runs from Thursday, Sept. 3, through Thursday, Oct. 22. The program is designed to foster connection and continuity, with the same participants throughout the series. Members join at the beginning and take part in the full program together.
The Oct. 15 gathering falls within that ongoing series and is listed as a two-hour session. Event information does not describe separate activities for the individual meeting, but emphasizes the continuing group format and the natural surroundings at the Highlands Center.
The program’s description connects personal restoration with the ability to show up for families, communities and oneself. It presents time in the forest as an opportunity to slow down and notice the surrounding environment while moving through grief with the group.
The Highlands Center for Natural History is hosting the event at its Prescott location. The venue phone number is (928) 776-9550. Program staff contact is Maria Icenogle.
Peace in the Pines is listed for Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 1375 S. Walker Road, Prescott, Arizona 86303. The series is scheduled to conclude the following Thursday, Oct. 22.
